Volunteering

In 2019, 160 volunteers gave 12,000 hours of service to support patients at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. These thoughtful community members donate their skills in clerical and administrative support; direct patient care and enrichment activities; and support tasks at the hospital on State Street; Northern Light Health Center, Union Street; and Lafayette Family Cancer Institute in Brewer.

We have many opportunities for you to help our patients and their families. 

Our volunteers are community ambassadors for healthy lifestyles and compassionate living. We serve patients, support families, and assist the staff in striving to fulfill Northern Light Health’s mission with caring, competence, and dignity.

The Student Volunteer Program is viewed as an educational experience. Volunteering provides opportunities for teens to learn a sense of civic responsibility and become familiar with a variety of professions in the health care setting. Our program this year is scheduled from June 22nd through August 14th.
