Occupational Therapy focuses on helping people have more successful and independent lives by identifying and addressing their areas of difficulty (motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, cognition, etc.) and building on their strengths. Occupational Therapy can help children with different needs improve their skills and independence, and gain a sense of accomplishment and increased self-esteem.

Foundation Skills OT Provides Services For:

  • Fine Motor Skills: Holding crayons, pencils and other small objects, stringing beads, using clothing fasteners, manipulating toys
  • Motor Coordination Skills: Scissor use, puzzles, ball skills
  • Visual Motor Skills: Printing, drawing, forming shapes, coloring
  • Visual Perceptual Skills: Sorting, matching, scanning, letter reversals
  • Self-Care Skills: Dressing, feeding, using utensils, typing, bathing, shoe tying
  • Sensory Processing Skills: Ability to appropriately respond to various sights, sounds, tastes, movement and touch
  • Social Skills: Interacting with others, following routines
  • Gross Motor Skills: Strength, range of motion, ability to navigate environment
  • Life Skills: Money management, time management, effective communication skills, home management tasks and daily routine

  • Comprehensive evaluation: Inpatient, Pediatric Day Treatment, and Outpatient
  • Individual therapy: Inpatient, Pediatric Day Treatment, and Outpatient
  • Group therapy: Inpatient and Pediatric Day Treatment
  • Parent consultation: Inpatient, Pediatric Day Treatment, and Outpatient
  • Interdisciplinary team approach: Inpatient, Pediatric Day Treatment, and Outpatient
