Celebrating our latest DAISY Award recipients

Congratulations to our latest DAISY Award recipients, and to our first recipient of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award!

Lisa Dorr, BSN, nurse manager, Northern Light Endoscopy, is this year’s honoree for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Lisa is an exemplary leader who exudes enthusiasm and kindness. She addresses difficult situations with calmness and constructive solutions, and always incorporates the needs of patients and staff into her decisions. Lisa leads with compassion and wisdom, and has created a team that nurtures and encourages one another. She takes pride in her work and cares deeply about her team as individuals.

Congratulations, Lisa, and thank you for your hard work and dedication to your staff and patients. We are truly lucky to have a leader like you.
 
Ruth Dow, RN, Grant 5, has been a charge nurse for more than 20 years and is a certified neurology, orthopedics, and stroke care nurse. She is an excellent resource to the staff, always willing to educate, and an amazing advocate for patients, family members, and her peers. She was nominated by a manager who says, “Ruth demonstrates every characteristic a nurse should have. She is compassionate, gentle, caring, kind, honest, respectful, and fair. She really is a rock to the staff. Many of the nurses call her ‘mama’ because of the outstanding support she provides.”

Morgan Russell, BSN, RN, Intensive Care Unit, is a calm, reassuring presence and has developed great rapport with her patients. She is well liked by her peers and loves her job. She is constantly in motion for her patients and coworkers. Morgan sees the whole person and ensures her patients and their families are given clear and understandable explanations and goals. Morgan supports the mission and vision of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center and we are proud that she is part of the ICU team.

Ashley Wilcox, BSN, RNC-NIC, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, is a strong advocate for her patients and always puts their safety first. She goes above and beyond for patients and their families in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and treats them with respect and kindness. Ashley has also taken a leadership role in her unit's Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program team.
