Brain Tumor Care

We treat hundreds of patients with tumors of the brain and spine every year with a variety of tumors including gliomas and glioblastomas, brain metastasis, meningiomas, pituitary tumors, acoustic neuromas, and more.

Our neurosurgical-oncology team at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center includes neurosurgeons with fellowship training in brain tumor and skull base tumor surgery. The unique expertise of our neurosurgeons, combined with our state-of-the-art surgical technology, help make brain surgery as safe and minimally invasive as possible.

Some of the special techniques and technologies we use for brain surgery include intraoperative motor mapping to protect brain motor function, awake craniotomy to protect speech and language function, intraoperative brain navigation, 5-ALA fluorescence-guided glioma surgery, microscopic and endoscopic assisted surgery, and minimally invasive and keyhole surgery. Many of our patients go home a day or two after elective brain surgery.
