Mercy Hospital to Host Walk
McAuley Residence began in 1988 as a transitional housing program for women and children whom were desperately in need of a helping hand. Today, McAuley Residence serves women who are recovering from drug and alcohol dependence. The program provides women with the life skills, counseling, medical support, parenting coaching, and mentoring they need to be self-sufficient.
“For 30 years, McAuley Residence has helped women heal and thrive,” says Melissa Skahan, vice president of mission integration at Mercy Hospital. “We’re grateful for the community’s support over the past three decades, both through direct donations, and at events like the Walk/Run for Recovery. The Walk/Run is a way to build community and highlight the healthy, active lifestyles that our families embrace while at McAuley Residence.”
The non-competitive event is open to people of all ages. Incentives are offered to participants who raise $150, $300, $1000, and $2000. A virtual participation option is available for those who are unable to attend the Walk/Run but wish to support McAuley Residence.
The presenting sponsor of the event is TruChoice Federal Credit Union. Additional sponsors include Alere Scarborough, Inc.; Core Installations; F.L. Putnam Investment Management Company; Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home; Norway Savings Bank; Seabreeze Property Services; and SMRT.
