Mercy StarLights illuminates the holiday season, supports patient care

Date: 11/24/2018

The Northern Light Mercy Hospital Fore River Campus will sparkle when thousands of holiday lights illuminate a dozen evergreen trees at the fourth annual StarLights tree lighting ceremony and reception on Sunday, December 2, 2018.

Activities will include ornament decorating at 3:30 pm, Santa’s arrival at 4 pm, and a performance by the St. Brigid’s School Choir at 4:30 pm, to be followed by the tree lighting and cocoa and cookies. Guests are invited to bring donations of new mittens, gloves, and winter socks to be distributed to Northern Light Mercy Hospital Emergency Department patients this winter.

StarLights is a patient care fundraiser for Northern Light Mercy Hospital. Supporters purchase lights for $10 each to honor, remember, or pay tribute to family and friends, cancer survivors and caregivers, co-workers, and community leaders. Mercy staff members are often recognized in tribute of their work.

“StarLights is a wonderful way to shine a light on loved ones while helping Northern Light Mercy Hospital provide the high quality, personalized care that’s at the heart of Mercy,” says Charlie Therrien, president, Northern Light Mercy Hospital. “The tree lighting ceremony is a great way for people all ages to celebrate and kick off the holiday season. The moment when we flip the switch and thousands of lights come to life is powerful and inspiring.”

The names of those honored or remembered will be displayed at Mercy Fore River, Mercy State Street, and on the Mercy website through January 31, 2019. Supporters will receive a festive StarLights card to mail to family and friends to acknowledge the light illuminated in their honor. To purchase a light or to learn more, visit or call 207.879.3605.
