Northern Light Mercy Hospital Expands Cancer Care Services
Announces new partnership with New England Cancer Specialists
Portland, Maine (December 5, 2018)
– Northern Light Mercy Hospital announced a new collaboration today with New England Cancer Specialists
(NECS). This week, Mercy greatly expanded its cancer care program by partnering with a number of NECS providers to serve its patients. Drs. David Benton, Devon Evans, Chiara Battelli, Kurt Ebrahim, and Arlene Damon, NP, have begun seeing patients at Mercy’s cancer care practice located on its Fore River campus.
“These experienced cancer experts will join Dr. Anna Niegowska and our clinical team of nurses, researchers, and social workers to greatly expand our program’s capacity,” said Charlie Therrien, president of Mercy Hospital. “Working together, they will increase access to cancer treatment in our region and continue the outstanding oncology and hematology care Mercy is known for in our community.”
NECS, the region’s largest medical oncology group, is nationally recognized and includes nearly half of Maine’s board-certified medical oncologists. The providers joining Mercy’s cancer care program are available to established and new Mercy patients, and they will cover in-house consults and admissions.
“Our providers are pleased to be able to collaborate with Northern Light Mercy Hospital to expand access to the highest quality cancer care,” said Dr. Chiara Battelli, president of New England Cancer Specialists. “We look forward to continuing toward our goal of achieving each patient’s best outcome.”
Mercy Hospital’s comprehensive cancer care program
