Mark A. Lukens, MBA to become Senior Vice President, Northern Light Health and President, Northern Light Acadia Hospital on July 17

Brewer, Maine (June 1, 2023) – Following an exhaustive nationwide search, Northern Light Health president and CEO Tim Dentry is pleased to announce that Mark A. Lukens, MBA has been named president of Northern Light Acadia Hospital.

“It was clear from Mark’s impressive experience and background that he is well suited to lead Acadia at this critical time and further its mission of helping people to improve their lives,“ says Northern Light Health president and CEO Tim Dentry. “From his earliest days as a paramedic to his most recent work leading a multi-faceted behavioral health organization that covers 7,000 square miles in upstate New York, Mark is both compassionate to those in need of mental health services and adept at leading organizations with vision and purpose. I am excited for the future of our Behavioral Health program under Mark’s leadership.”

Lukens was selected following a rigorous search, during which several candidates from a variety of backgrounds were interviewed. The selection process was guided by a search committee chaired by Shirar Patterson, vice-chair of the Acadia Hospital Board of Trustees. The interview process involved providers, nurses, clinicians, and team members from many areas throughout the hospital, as well as Northern Light Health system board members, donors, and community leaders.

“To be joining Northern Light Health and Acadia Hospital during this critical time – when so many people across Maine and our nation are struggling like never before with their mental and emotional health – gives me a tremendous sense of purpose,” says Lukens. He continues, “The people of Acadia are doing amazing work, touching many lives, and offering hope to people from across the state. It is an honor to lend my experience and skills to their efforts, and I am excited to see what the future holds as we work together to improve access and services to behavioral health care in Maine.”

Lukens will officially begin his role at Acadia Hospital on July 17, 2023. He and his family are currently in the process of relocating to the Bangor area and look forward exploring the state and enjoying the lifestyle that Maine offers.
