Associate Vice President of Home Health for Northern Light Home Care & Hospice
Leigh Ann Howard RN, DNP, CHFN-K is the associate vice president of Home Health for Northern Light Home Care & Hospice.
Leigh Ann is responsible for the home health service line across the entire Northern Light Home Care footprint, including telehealth, community health and the immunization program. She joined Northern Light Home Care & Hospice over 16 years ago as a visiting clinician and has held several roles in the organization including visiting nurse, community wellness nurse, manager, and director.
She passionate about advocating for home health and care of rural seniors, and When not busy at NLHCH, Leigh Ann keeps busy with family activities, enjoying the great outdoors and continuing to develop her interest in music.
Leigh Ann was recognized by the Home Care & Hospice Alliance of Maine in 2009 with the Distinguished Caregiver Award. In 2010 she received the ANA-Maine Agnes E. Flaherty Staff Nurse Award in recognition of her leadership during the H1N1 Pandemic immunization efforts.
She has published several articles and has also published case studies in the textbook of clinical case studies in home health care. Her doctoral work studied the effect of staff “teach back technique” and patient outcomes of heart failure patients. On February 12, 2021 Leigh Ann spoke in Washington, D.C. to the members of the Senate Committee on Aging regarding remote patient monitoring and the challenges seniors face accessing home health care in rural settings.
