Very Good Care

At Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center the healthcare Golden Rule isn’t good enough. While treating the patients as you would want to be treated is good, treating patients the way they want to be treated is better. One way to be sure we are doing that is by asking them what’s most important to them while they are in our care. While we may know well what clinical treatment is needed to help someone heal, only they can tell us what feels like very good care to them. So we ask. Every patient. Every day. And we record the patient’s priorities on a special board in their room, for all caregivers to see. Every caregiver can see what each patient’s priorities for the day are, and will do his or her best to deliver.
